Volunteer Philosophy

The German American Society Friendship (GASF) is a 100% volunteer organization. Our greatest asset is our membership. All club activities rely on the participation and support of our members. A deep pool of willing volunteers is critical to GASF’s continued success. Not only will we not thrive without the active support of our members, but we will also not long survive.

Some of the volunteer opportunities include:

  • Kitchen & Bar Staff
  • Building Maintenance
  • Decorating / Cleaning
  • Admission / Tickets / Greeting
  • Help with special events (e.g. Oktoberfest, Maifest, etc…)
  • … and more

Each of these areas is managed by experienced members. We encourage everyone to seek out activities that align with your interests.

While volunteerism is critically important to the on-going viability of the club and we value and appreciate every member who contributes their time, it is understood that not everyone can volunteer. We recognize that members may have physical limitations or live out of town. They can have job conflicts or other competing obligations. Not everyone is able to volunteer.

All members are valued regardless of their ability to participate. GASF is built upon the friendship and mutual values held in-common between Germany and America. Gemütlichkeit (friendship, hospitality and camaraderie) and our shared interest in German heritage is what is most important and binds us together as a club.

We strongly encourage and hope members volunteer.

If everyone does a little, GASF will continue to prosper.
