Our Volunteer Philosophy
The German-American Society is a 100% volunteer organization. Every event, every evening, every stein of beer — made possible by members who show up.
Our greatest asset is our membership. All club activities rely on the participation and support of our members — and a deep pool of willing volunteers is critical to our continued success.
Not only will we not thrive without the active support of our members, but we will not long survive. That’s not a warning — it’s just the honest truth about what it takes to keep something this special going for 75 years.
We encourage everyone to seek out activities that align with your interests. Each area is managed by experienced members who are glad to have you.
Ways to Get Involved
Something for everyone — whatever your skills or availability
Kitchen & Bar Staff
Help keep the Biergarten and bar running on event nights. If you enjoy a lively environment and meeting people, this is the spot.
Building Maintenance
Keep our 65-year-old home in good shape. Handy members are always appreciated — big projects and small fixes alike.
Decorating & Cleaning
Transform Germania Hall before and after events. It’s often a team effort — and one of the best ways to meet fellow members.
Admission & Greeting
Be the first face people see at the door. Tickets, admission, and welcoming guests — you set the tone for the whole night.
Special Events
Oktoberfest, Maifest, Sausage Fest, Krampusnacht — our biggest events need the most hands. Jump in and be part of something memorable.
And More
There’s always something that needs doing. If you have a skill, an idea, or just a few free hours, we can find a place for you.
Not everyone can volunteer — and that’s understood.
We recognize that members may have physical limitations, live out of town, have job conflicts, or other competing obligations. All members are valued regardless of their ability to participate.
The German-American Society is built upon friendship and the mutual values shared between Germany and America. Gemütlichkeit — friendship, hospitality, and camaraderie — and our shared interest in German heritage is what binds us together. That matters most.
We strongly encourage and hope members volunteer — but we’re grateful you’re here either way. Become a member and be part of what keeps this place alive.
