Dear Members – Dear Friends,
What a year we’ve had so far. We enjoyed a Bockfest, a Bratwurst Fest, and a traditional Mai Fest. With all these celebrations and the other exciting things happening at our club, we thankfully haven’t had too many unpleasant situations among our members.
Back in April, Manfred Langer had a small stroke, and he’s still having trouble with his left eye. Even with plenty of therapy and consultations, his eyesight hasn’t improved. In fact, just a few weeks ago he was back in the hospital with some heart problems. We are very lucky to still have him with us. It was good to see him Saturday at Erna’s 99’s birthday party.
One of our newer members, Linda Switcher, has also been ill, and I truly hope she’s feeling better again. Our club’s cook, Steve, is out for a while with an unknown illness. I spoke with him, and he told me the medical staff still isn’t sure what’s going on. All we can say is that we’re wishing both Linda and Steve the very best.
And then we had what Georg Biermann calls “a small mishap.” Georg called to let me know he’s doing better, and he’ll keep me updated.
After all this somewhat sad news, we also had a happy occasion. Michael Tressler’s niece and godchild celebrated her wedding in Chicago. We wish the new couple all the best for their future together.
To all our other members dealing with little hiccups, we wish you a speedy recovery.
