On Saturday, August 8th, Doris and Debbie del Favero represented the German-American Society at the Pinellas Park Chamber back‑to‑school drive. Over 100 students attended the Backpack Drive and visited 21 tables to pick up the school supplies of their choice. We worked alongside the Rotary Club, Kiwanis Club, Grow Financial, the Police and Fire Departments, Pinellas Park Technical College, and many others.
Many students and parents were interested in learning about the German-American society, the Gulf Coast Enzianer Schuhplattler Verein, the Bayern Munich Fan Club, and even Krampus. We met a diverse group of students originally from countries such as Bulgaria and Vietnam. Several families had lived in Germany, with at least one parent who had served in the military.
Next year, let’s donate even more school supplies to support the students in our community!
